OK folks, here is Monday (ie Day 4). The exhibition is NOT quite open yet (that's on Tuesday) -
There is this super large display outside of the art gallery and emerging technologies that is a giant photo mosaic and if you send them pictures from your cell phone they will incorporate it into the mosaic. -
You can play in the sandbox tournament series. They have a complete schedule of games. - -
It's Wobbe F. Koning -
The book store is TOO popular - too much too carry and too much to spend. -
You will not be seeing this sign on Wed and Thurs when I am speaking! -
Part of the art gallery - this is a hand laid beaded curtain. -
I am starting to enjoy the interactives more every year. If they feel like toys or something to play with. It really needs to compel. -
Robot painted paintings! - -
A volumetric display that uses a shutter technology with a projector (they are hard to photograph). - -
If you use a flash you see the spinning platform that makes the magic happen! -
Another spinning technology was the spinning disk 3D TV system. Very elegantly done though very very tiny. - -
Marziah Karch from google.about.com -
So it turns out that Santiago took some video of me and incorporated it into his very nice interactive work. He actually took many video clips at SIGGRAPH to add to it. Great work. - -
Felice Frankel (of Harvard and MIT) said I should google her if I wanted to find out what she did.
Wow! Thanks Felice! She does amazing work and it was great to spend some time talking to her.
-
I also met Joshua Strickon from the New York Times R&D Operations. -
I got brave enough to ask Ed Catmull, president of Disney Animation and Pixar, if I could photograph him for the site. He said yes. -
Texas Instruments was showing their HD DLP Stereoscopic Theater systems. I want one. But where would I put it. This is Ken Bell from TI. -
More FJORG! -
And today's lunchtime entertainment was steel drums. -
The poster sessions look interesting I will be doing an in depth highlights later in the week. -
At the media office I talked to Daniel Tarango from NBC who wanted me to tell all the fine fine ladies who visit this site that he is single! -
Stephen Jacobs write but he also teaches at RITT. -
Very nice helpers at the animation theater. -
They weren't on duty but were also student volunteers. -
Jamie Defalco (and Emma's finger) -
Mabel Neo from SIGGRAPH Asia. I would love to see what the Singapore conference will be like! -
This guy gave me a wooden nickel (and sent me to the Guerilla Studio) - -
Philip Mallory Jones (Jacque Quijote in Second Life) is a Resident Artist at The Aesthetic Technologies Lab at Ohio University. -
I forgot this guy's name! No of course I didn't its doug Douglas Prince from NCSoft. -
And he was from Michigan and you all should visit www.getrawtalent.com -
Dave with Matthew Hollern from the Cleveland Institute of Art -
Rebecca Strzelec from Altoona who is running the Guerilla Studio (boy I hope I got that right) -
Katherine Milton, director of the Aesthetic Technologies Lab at Ohio University.
She was very nice and we had a very long talk. I can't thank her enough for all her time and insights.
-
Neil Bennett form Digital Arts. He is the Deputy Director and I expected to see a big silver star on his chest. -
George Maestri is always up to no good (and also writing and teaching) -
The Autodesk Users Group meeting was packed! -
They gave us all T-shirts - -
The legal fine print for their demonstrations. -
I met Ron Henderson and Bill Ballew from Dreamworks. -
Then we all headed off to the USS Midway for the Autodesk party! - -
Flight simulators. - -
No one was dancing yet. -
Though they had some ringers in the audience (I think that guy was hired to make those ladies look good). -
Nice mohawk. - -
Now that's a beard! -
Food. -
Beret. - -
Marty Ollstein from Crystal Image -
Just a big old party! - -
