OK folks, here is Tuesday (ie Day 5). They came into the media lounge to try and get us to see their mocap stuff. Dave was more interested than I was but I will look at it eventually. -
The exhibition floor is open! -
I want to try this 120 degree immersive thing. The red lights are part of it. It was very weird watching him drive without a wheel. -
Funnily enough the sign says Blue Box! -
3D Printers are hot every year. They are getting cheaper and better! -
Uh.... -
I always thought these dome things would eventually just vanish, but they come back year after year looking a little sleeker and a little better. -
I first saw this globe (they call it a dome) at e-tech several years ago. It looks great and the people at Arc Science Simulations have it right when they told me that they don't just sell the product they work with a company to get them what they need. Anything that special needs a service with it and that's great. -
Motorized spherical cameras are big as well - the expensive but foolproof way to get spherical panoramas. -
It looks like it can let you travel though time but really its a face scanner by Aguru Images. -
Z corp printers get better and better! Look at that Scooby Doo! - -
Its funny to see these guys selling digital video cameras on the show floor. They are old fashioned barkers! And they get a crowd. I have mixed feelings - sometimes I wish we had more of these guys. -
MESA Imaging AG has a camera that records depth maps! I want one of these, Very nice the color represents depth (though not yet the same the the Chromadepth colors). Very sleek! - -
Another spherical camera rig. -
The other big trade show item. These electro massagers. I like it in the demo but I'm always afraid to spend the money or use it long term. -
Pixar! -
Disney (not the Virtual World label) -
Part of the Disney booth is a very nice LED video display. -
A show favorite is American Paper Optics. These guys know what they are doing and love their job. They sell 3D glasses and it doesn't get more fun than that! -
And the Hash guys are back selling Animation Master! -
And my neighbors back home The Cleveland Institute of Art. -
They are giving away temporary tattoos. -
Google! -
They aren't hurting. They gave us t-shirts. -
I asked Kate with the purple hair is her hair always matches he dress. She laughed and said no. I asked if I could take her picture for the highlights of SIGGRAPH website and she said sure. She asked is she needed a special pose because she thought i had said the "Harlots of SIGGRAPH" website -
Shawna with Norman Tan from Autodesk -
I asked her if she could juggle the sandwiches. -
So I stopped this guy to talk about his iPhone. And when I asked Guido if I could take his picture he said "what a random guy with an iPhone. Everybody has one" And I said "what do you do work for Apple?" Then I looked at his badge. He does work for Apple. So when he says Everyone has one that's not an observation that's a corporate vision. Actually he was very nice and I tease cause I want one. -
Today's lunchtime activity - African drums! -
Last year Jessica was camera shy. -
Its Barry from ESPN - when I think sports - I think Barry. -
So I wouldn't burn my forehead not so I look tough. -
Karin Kosina offering me her card. -
Dave and Ken do lunch. -
We decided to go hear Scott McCloud keynote but before that I could see his notebook on the network!
I just noticed that the spelling is different I wonder why... hmmm.
-
All I can say is that it was GREAT! -
And he was gracious enough to sign autographs afterwards. Can you make that out to "Ebay buyer?" -
Yeah, that works. -
This is how we all feel. -
I already forgot what product they were advertising. I think it is a sports game. -
The massage guys are here! Yeah!! Salvation. -
Dave says my photos are not candid enough. How do you like that Dave? - -
Keywan from Berlin. -
Herminia Wei-Hsn Din is speaking tomorrow afternoon in the educators program (so am I) -
I love these 3D printers. -
Point Gray research always has neat toys but I don't have the team to really get them working right. -
Alicia Hollinger from Wonderland Art. -
Mmm, Mo Cap. -
Jennifer Clark from Torcomp is trapped in an invisible box of great educational prices. -
Ok, this is amazing. Dimensional Imaging sells face capture systems. This one uses 4 cameras and nothing else! It took 3 minutes to process but look at the model it go out. WOW! - - - - - - -
My next stop after my trips is to see Don Marineli the Executive Producer of the Entertainment Technology Center at Carnegie Melon. -
Is this considered a booth babe? -
Sabine Thomas from PassmoreLab. -
And of course Greg Passmore of PassmoreLab. -
Elena and Scott (he is form Blizzard)
You can't see the monster shoes in the photo!
-
We went to the wine tasting the French group was hosting. These guys were playing hide and seek. -
It was great! -
Eric taught us all about the wine. -
Two fisting it! -
We hung out Mw these guys. Rodolfo Damaggio and James Rothwell. -
Looking for the Disney party we spotted a shaggy dog. -
I like the fire in the table. -
We didn't find Pixar/Disney instead we found Adobe/Maxon! -
It was a great party! -
It even had a conga line! -
And a great band (ignore the empty dance floor). -
During the last giveaway so many people had left he had to keep calling number after number. -
Every time he called da number this table would scream "NO"! -
We had a great time and I made some new friends (whose cards all got shuffled) -
Michael Hewes from Maxon got me a demo and told me it would change my life!
Well not really he just said I should try it.
-
Lisa Moore and Stan Schwartz of Toonamation the most ultimate plugin! -
Cynthia Beth Rubin -
I met Gregory Garvey from Quinnipiac University in the art gallery at another SIGGRAPH he had a porthole. -

Bonnie Mitchell from BGSU (yes I know who you are) kept trying to get us to go find that Pixar party but we all were bums and went our separate ways. -
I want luxury transportation! -
